Summary
Recorded video lectures, talks and tutorials are a great way of reaching big audiences and of reusing existing material, but they're often too similar to traditional talks: unless you find a very good speaker, they tend to be rather boring. Join us and suggest topics, speakers and techniques to make pre-recorded video lectures for online learning both fun and engaging.

- Share experiences on producing and using video lectures as part of distance learning.
Who should come? How many? For how long? (audience)
- Educators and learners engaged in any online learning environment.
- Anyone else interested in the use of non-live video for distance learning
- People who wish to share their multimedia editing skills
• Any number of participants between 5 and 30
- The discussion/brainstorm can be limited to 2h. Some activities can span longer: a board with blank templates that people can fill with existing resources and proposals for new ones.
What will they do when they get there? (activities)
- See a demo of existing video lectures and how they're used in the online learning environment
- Discuss what works and what doesn't in existing content
- Brainstorm about possible improvements to the production and the use of these resources
- Suggest speakers and topics for courses related to Web development, Open Standards and FLOSS in general.
What will you / they have at the end? (outputs)
- A set of do's and don'ts when producing and using video for distance learning
A list of existing video resources that can be used in this way
- A list of volunteers who wish to help collect, produce and disseminate this kind of content
